When, back in the late 1960s and early 1970s, César Manrique returned to Lanzarote and joined forces with Jesús Soto to start the construction and launch of the Art and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote, they may not have been aware of the international projection and artistic trend they were about to generate.
César, a multidisciplinary artist, painter, sculptor, curator of monuments and tourist complexes, configurator of landscapes and gardens. Renowned environmentalist, created a trend of natural volcanic accidents that impacted the world and was a world reference. He managed to unite art, culture, nature, urban planning and tourism in a single concept, under a philosophy and model of urban intervention based on sustainability and respect for the natural values of the territory.
Without the Farmer's Monument, Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Río or Cactus Garden, our island would be something different, it would certainly be less attractive and with much less personality. Not visiting our Art and Tourism Centers and being able to interpret them, is like not having visited us.
In this excursion, we are delighted to offer you the opportunity to explore the central and northern areas of the island. We will visit the César Manrique Foundation, one of the finest private museums in Europe, and we also give you the choice to discover either Jameos del Agua or Cueva de los Verdes.
